America decides: Joe Biden is the 46th President of the United States
Joe Biden has been elected the 46th President of the United States after a long and decisive election process. He defeated incumbent President Donald Trump in a hard-fought race that saw record voter turnout and heated debates on crucial issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the economy, racial justice, and climate change.
Biden’s journey to the presidency has been a long and winding one. He served as a senator from Delaware for over three decades, then served as Vice President under Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017. He decided to run for President again in 2020, and after a tough primary battle, he secured the Democratic nomination and chose Kamala Harris as his running mate, making history by selecting the first Black woman and South Asian American woman to be on a major party’s presidential ticket.
In the general election, Biden ran on a platform of unity, promising to heal the deep political and social divisions that have plagued America in recent years. He also pledged to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic head-on, to address economic inequality and climate change, and to reform the criminal justice system and advance racial equity.
Biden’s victory was hailed by supporters as a triumph of hope and decency over fear and division. In his victory speech, he called for unity and healing, saying that he would be a President for all Americans, not just those who voted for him.
However, the transition of power has not been smooth. President Trump has refused to concede the election, claiming without evidence that the results were fraudulent and launching a series of legal challenges in several states. His attempts to overturn the election have been widely criticized by Democrats and some Republicans, who say that he is undermining democracy and damaging America’s global standing.
Despite the challenges ahead, Biden is ready to take on the presidency and face the pressing issues of the day. As he said in his victory speech, “I sought this office to restore the soul of America, to rebuild the backbone of the nation — the middle class — and to make America respected around the world again. And to unite us here at home.”
